AP Studio Art Drawing Course Description:
AP Drawing is one of three courses that is a part of the AP Studio Art program. This course focuses on enhancing traditional drawing quality and techniques through projects working with various mediums. With each project, students refine their drawing techniques, giving them a strong foundation for drawing at a college level.
This course starts by teaching the basics of drawing and how to properly apply them among various mediums. Each medium helps students to refine their drawing techniques in both line quality and execution. Afterwards, students are then able to prepare their own concentration by exploring one particular drawing topic further and by applying their own developed concept. In the end, students will produce 12 pieces for a Breadth Portfolio and 12 pieces for a Concentration Portfolio. The Breadth Portfolio consists of a variety of works, while the Concentration Portfolio consists of a body of work representing a singular idea or theme.
Throughout this process, our experienced instructors provide excellent guidance and critique with each student individually. Consequently, no matter the skill level of the student, each student will progress at his or her own appropriate pace.
